Evaluations for visa types:

  • In Extreme Hardship cases, the evaluations illustrate the emotional and psychological hardships for individuals and their families if separated or deported. I document the significant impact on mental health, relationships, and overall well-being, advocating for humanitarian considerations in immigration decisions.

  • I conduct psychological evaluations to support VAWA applications, helping survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and other forms of gender-based violence document the emotional and psychological impact of their experiences. This assists them in seeking safety and security in the United States.

  • Through the evaluation, the psychological consequences of trauma, such as PTSD, anxiety, and depression, are documented.

This supports clients in their pursuit of immigration benefits under the U-Visa program ensuring their voices are heard and their needs are recognized.

  • Through sensitive and trauma-informed assessment, I help clients articulate the emotional and psychological consequences of trafficking experiences, such as complex trauma and dissociative symptoms, supporting their eligibility for immigration relief under the T-Visa program.

So, Why are Immigration Evaluations useful?

Immigration mental health evaluations, sometimes referred to as immigration psychological evaluations, serve as invaluable tools in the legal process, providing documented evidence of the impact of your immigration circumstances on your mental health.

These evaluations are particularly useful in cases where individuals are seeking benefits through various immigration avenues such as Extreme Hardship/ Cancellation of Removal, VAWA, U-visa, and T-visa applications. By exploring the psychological aspects of your life, these evaluations can provide valuable insights into the challenges you have faced, the emotional impact you have endured, and the kind of specialized care and support you may require.

In addition, immigration evaluations play a valuable role in connecting personal experiences with the legal requirements. It can be tough to express and demonstrate the effects of trauma and hardship, especially when it's related to immigration. That's where these evaluations come in. They provide a professional framework for presenting the psychological impact in a way that adds credibility to your claim

Together, we’ll give voice to your immigration journey, shedding light on the experiences, and hardships you encountered. Let’s ensure your story is heard and recognized! 💪🏼🌟

How do immigration evaluations work?

Immigration evaluations involve a thorough and systematic assessment conducted by a qualified mental health professional specializing in trauma-informed care.

The process typically begins with two clinical interview, 1 - 1.5 hours each session, where detailed information about your personal history, immigration journey, and experiences of trauma or hardship will be recorded and evaluated. These interviews serve as the foundation for understanding the psychological functioning and the specific challenges you have faced.

Following the initial interviews, I will employ clinical techniques to evaluate your mental health status comprehensively. These assessments include structured interviews, psychological questionnaires, and observational measures tailored to assess trauma-related symptoms, such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, and anxiety. The data is carefully analyzed to formulate a clinical impression and identify any psychological diagnoses or symptoms present.

Subsequently, the findings are intergraded into a detailed and professionally written report [10-15 pages] that outlines your psychological history, trauma exposure, current mental health status, and prognosis. This report serves as a crucial document in immigration proceedings, providing objective evidence to support your claim of psychological hardship and the need for immigration relief. Throughout the process, confidentiality and sensitivity to your experiences are prioritized, ensuring a respectful and therapeutic environment for sharing your story.
